Every spring, one of my major tasks is course cleanup. It takes several days to cleanup the leaves and tree limbs.

Every year Columbus coach, Patrick Flanagan and his golf team volunteer to help saving my crew at least 2 days work. With having the golf team help with course cleanup, it instills a sense of pride they help keep Gates Golf Course looking nice.

So a BIG THANK YOU TO THE COLUMBUS GOLF TEAM.

Iowa PGA Junior Senior Draw Results - April 7th, 2008 - Click here

The 2008 Iowa PGA tournament season got started with a a cold and windy day at Amana Colonies Golf Course in Amana, Iowa on April 7th. The Junior Senior Draw attracted 30 Iowa Section PGA Professionals who competed in a team and individual stroke play event. The team format was one best ball of two and the individual format was 18-hole stroke play. Skip Holton and Sean McCarty captured the championship by shooting a team total of 69 (-3). Special thanks to Gerry Hupfeld and his staff at Amana Colonies Golf Course for hosting this first event of the year.

The 18-hole "Gates Park" course at the Gates Park Golf Course

Facility in Waterloo, Iowa features 6,839 yards of golf from the

longest tees for a par of 72. The course rating is 71.5 and it has

a slope rating of 118. Gates Park golf course opened in 1928.

Skip Holton manages the course as the Golf Professional and

Mark Suchy is the course Superintendent.
